Understanding the Signs of Menstrual Cycle

The menstruation is related to the female’s reproductive organs and pregnancy. Menstruation is also called as menarche or period which is the female’s monthly bleeding. Most of the mothers forgot to explain to their children regarding what is period, what should be done during the time of period, what are the physiological processes happens during and after the periods and the signs of menstrual cycle .

Even some girls because of their shyness won’t reveal anything to their mothers regarding the change that is happening in their body during the menarche and regular menstrual period. This also causes a back drop with certain girls in getting the clear knowledge regarding the menstruation.

The normal menstrual cycle is counted for average 28 days from the first day of the initial period to the first day of the next period. However the range of the days exists generally between 21 to 35 days of duration. The menstrual cycle is a main thing in the women’s life which prepares the women’s body to great pregnant with each month. During menstruation the body expels out the body’s unwanted waste matters like the endometrial bleeding, and mucous membranes.

The bodily organs involved in the menstrual cycle phenomenon are pituitary (king of glands), uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, ovaries and vagina. The major hormones involved in the menstruation are oestrogen and progesterone which are secreted by the ovaries and the luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone secreted by the pituitary which is situated in the brain.

The average age at which the girls attain menarche is 12. But all the girls will not attain their menarche at this age. It differs from each individual to individual depending on their body health, nutrition, hormone synthesis and general physiology. The age range of attaining menarche among girls will be mostly between 8 to 15 years.

The major signs of menstrual cycle are as follows:

Bleeding from the vaginal canal is the primary and the foremost sign of menstrual cycle followed with the other signs like muscle cramps, sore breasts, pressure in the pelvis, back pain, cravings for food, concentration difficulties, mood swings, irritability, general fatigue, headache, water retention, abdominal bloating sensation, etc.

Around 80 to 85% of the women felt few or all of the above mentioned signs during their menstruation. Even few other signs also occur during the menstruation such as severe emotional disturbances, euphoria, phobias, increased sex drive, intense orgasms, etc.

The main signs of menstrual cycle will be observed and easily differentiated by most of the girls and women which helps them to plan their schedule in the home and working place accordingly. Some women have excessive mood swings with heavy bleeding which arrests them from all their regular duties. To escape from these issues most of the women understand easily and plan their duties accordingly prior to their dates and thus helps a lot to reduce their stress during the menstrual period.
